About Faculty of Liberal Studies

The Department of Liberal Studies was established with a vision to foster holistic, interdisciplinary, and value-based education. The department offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs that integrate multiple disciplines such as Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, Philosophy, Communication, and Indian Knowledge Systems, providing students with a broad and inclusive academic foundation.

The department aligns itself with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, promoting academic flexibility, interdisciplinary learning, experiential education, and competency-based outcomes. It emphasizes the development of intellectual, emotional, ethical, and social competencies required for personal growth and responsible citizenship.

The programs under the Department of Liberal Studies focus on nurturing critical thinking, effective communication, research aptitude, emotional intelligence, ethical reasoning, and leadership qualities among students. A learner-centric, participatory, and experiential pedagogical approach is adopted through case studies, field visits, projects, workshops, internships, and seminars.

In addition to academic rigor, the department integrates Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) and contemporary global perspectives, aiming to create graduates who are socially responsible, culturally sensitive, and globally competent.
